A bath waste must allow the bath water to drain away effectively as it flows whilst also creating a watertight seal so that the bathtub can fill when required. Practical waste systems should also be equipped with an overflow so that should your bath fill up too high, the water can still drain safely, and your home will not flood.

Once again there are a variety of different bath waste styles available to purchase including the plug & chain waste, the pop-up waste and the click clack or sprung plug.

The waste plug is the visible fitting that sits at the bottom of the bathtub. A waste trap is connected to the plug and sits beneath the structure of the tub. Waste plugs are attached to a washer and are typically installed by simply screwing into place.

You’ll often find that the plug operates through a pop-up system which is controlled by a pull cord or knob. However, there are also manual plugs and click clack plugs available which can simply be pushed with your feet or hands.
